For whatever reason, the staff give off this too cool vibe where you should be grateful for being allowed to eat or drink at their establishment. I too think it has to do with the built in gratuity. When trying to talk to the owner about his beer selection, he gives off this pompous attitude like he is the center of all things beer in San Diego.
