Liars Club
The Mission Beach Liars’ Club is no more, check out the new Alpine location: Liars’ Club Alpine Tavern and Grill.

The Liars’ Club is one of San Diego’s premier beer related establishments. Located in Mission Beach about 100 yards from the Pacific Ocean it is the perfect place to enjoy a couple of beers and some delicious food while wandering around the beach or before a show.
On this particular Friday night Jorge and I were going to Canes (wow, that place sucks) for a Wolf Parade & Holy Fuck event.
Beer

The beer, oh, the beer. There is always a LARGE selection of local beers on tap here including many brews from AleSmith, Stone, Alpine, Ballast Point and Port Brewing. They also bring in several excellent beers from outside San Diego. If you’re dead set on getting some shitty beer, you can probably buy it in bottle form, but that’s not recommended.
The Liars’ Club has quality beer on lock down.
Special Events

Friday night at Liars is “Local Pint Night”, all local pints are $2.50 and they have a cask of San Diego’s finest available. Tonight it was “Mumble mumble - IPA”, the bartender was in a rush and didn’t exactly pronunciate the breweries name, on cask. Whatever it was, we both enjoyed a couple of them with our fine meals.
Food

The food here is always on point, you have to try their Ahi Sandwich. It’s made with a rather large piece of Ahi Tuna steak, cucumbers and some tasty spicy sauce. They serve it with regular or cajun fries, both are made fresh and very delicious. I’ve heard their regular burgers are fantastic, but I haven’t personally tried any of them.
Location

Just up from the boardwalk in Mission Beach is a great location, but parking sucks. Tip, try to bribe the valet dudes up the street with a couple bucks and they’ll let you park in their lot (about 30 yards from Liars’ Club entrance).
Overall

In short, go to Liars Club, go often. You won’t be disappointed.
Word on the street is they are opening ‘another’ location in Alpine.
